275.5 lbs
I had that coming. Without regaling you with all the gory details, I consumed about 2400 calories yesterday and had no extracurricular activities. Half of those were after 8:00pm. Shame on me.
Happy Friday The 13th, Y'all! Let the good times roll! The bachelorette party is this weekend. It kicks off tomorrow at 10:00am when we hit the road and goes until we come home Sunday afternoon. I may be a little concerned. SAG and I went out and bought party favors for the evening. Cheesey little things that will totally make us all the cliche of the evening. It is going to be SO much fun! I even bought some new clothes.
I went to three stores last night: Avenue, Steinmart and Kohl's. I struck out at Avenue. More times than not, I do. But, they've got cheap big-girl clothes and when they work, they really work. I tried a lot of clothes on and this is the first time I've done that since my 20 lb drop. I hit my closet up and have a few new things that work great, but I haven't gone shopping. This was a pleasant surprise. I can almost fit comfortably in 22/24 clothes. I was pushing a 28. Twenty. Eight. Sheesh.
I can get the clothes on, but they are still snug enough that they don't pass the sit-down test. When I try a top I always have to sit down. If it looks good when I'm sitting (refering to the jiggle in the middle) then the top is a keeper. If it doesn't and I'm not going to be standing all night, well, I don't buy it. Same goes with pants.
Anyway. I wanted to tell you all that I even tried on a dress. I haven't worn a dress since I was forced to wear one as MOH for BFF's wedding in 2005. That's also the lowest I can remember my weight in a long time being 265 lbs. And since it was a Bridesmaid dress, I don't know that it counts. Well, I really want to wear a dress for BB and Her Beau's wedding in early October. So I figured I better try one on and see what it looks like. It wasn't for the wedding, it was just for casual wear. It was like a tanktop with wide straps at the top. Just below the bust line it had a large elastic-gathered band (same material, just all gathered and elasticized) and then the material fell to just below my knee. It was a 22/24. A bit snug really. While everything did work, I needed a size larger for the elastic. The way it fell made me look 20 months pregnant. Ungood. I wasn't discouraged because I actually got a 22/24 on my body. Anyway, after an hour I walked out of Avenue empty-handed and headed to Steinmart.
Steinmart was so much more productive and was less time. I was also more willing to pick up smaller sized clothings this trip. It's usually hard to find anything there because they only go to 24 or 3x. I've gotten 3x tops but never found anything else of interest or that would work. Well...this time I found several tops and even a dress that had great wedding potential. It was a 24, but I figured if it worked but was just a little snug, I'd still get it anyway. I went to the dressing room with all my found treasures--we're talking a serious armful here--and the freakin place was under construction and therefore not available. Damnit. So, I reviewed everything I had and kept the dress and two tops. I'd try everyting on at home and take back what didn't work. One of the two tops is a sure thing, the other is going to the alterations today to see if they can do a quick change on it and the dress is a no go. Simply put, I didn't fill it out where I should and did where I shouldn't. Bygones.
Kohl's was good too. I found a shirt that flattered my bustline like nothing ever has before. It is made to fall perfectly in the back and front while it is a plunging neckline and hugs The Girls. I felt sexy in this top. The only thing is it doesn't pass the sit-down test. It will, but I have to fidgit around quite a bit to make it happen. Plus I've decided to wear a pair of black capris which are slightly too tight in the waist (will help prevent overeating and they look very flattering when I stand) so the combination may be too much. I bought it anyway. I want to wear this top SO bad this weekend. I just don't want to be one of those fat girls who wears skin-tight clothes and has rolls hanging out everywhere. You know which ones I'm talking about. I mean, I am all about loving yourself and being comfortable in your own skin, but there is such a thing as fashion sense. Come on, already! Look in a mirror and get a clue.
If I decide that the combination is a no-go, well, I can take solice in the fact that I will be able to wear it in the very near future. Very near. Like on my trip to Chicago in October. Woohoo!
As I look back over the past two weeks I realize a lot of what I've been reading and even in my own experience is about not meeting challenges either set forth by ourselves or others have given us. Failing. I've been saying there is no such thing as Failing, it's just modified planning.
After my little rant about fat girls and too-tight clothes...I stand corrected.

Awesome!
06/11/10
278.4 lbs
Where to begin, where to begin...
Firstly, Yea on the weight-front! I actually was gone from my abode for 7.5 days and managed to LOSE weight. 3 lbs even! Awesome! I'm pretty excited about that. It was great to be back at Beach Town, even with the threat of the looming oil spill (for which I am sincerely soliciting your prayers so they will get the well stopped and at least have an end to the leak itself). It's truly made a negative impact. The beaches were sparsely attended and this was the first full week of the season. Usually, you'd have to scope a place out at like 7:00 in the morning. Now, you can walk out at 2:00 in the afternoon and grab a fairly large patch of beach all to yourself. Anyway, I could write for days on this subject. It just breaks my heart.
On to less serious matters...
BFF arrived late Tuesday night. Wednesday morning, we woke up about 9ish and went for a workout. We then had a very healthy breakfast and I started backing. I actually crammed 7 days' worth of clothing into my middle suitcase. I still can't believe it made it all in. I felt bad for the thing really. I knew there wasn't a weight limit since we were driving and not flying, so I unzipped the extender (it has one built in which will expand the width of it, L-O-V-E It!) and loaded it up. I threw my extra shoes and bathroom necessities into two grocery-totes-turned-carry-ons. We finally got on the road about 1:30.
Oh. Let me share with you the best part. I called the nice, upscale, beachfront hotel prior to our departure because I didn't think we'd make the 4:00pm checkin time. Well, when on the phone I let them know that I'd need two beds and not one and here's the response I got:
"Oh, Ma'am, you don't have to worry about that. You have a 3 bedroom suite. You've been upgraded." Pregnant Pause."Well. Thank you. I'll see you when I get there." I totally didn't even mind that she called me ma'am.
We get to the hotel, we get our key and BFF is in charge of directing the bellhop with our luggage while I hurry off to find my first official gathering. You must remember, this is for a work conference, but it's more like a big party. These are all friendly industry colleagues. We all know each other and mostly love each other. We get together annually so it's always like a reunion. There was a Meet & Greet that had already started so I ran over to it to offer my "Hi How Are Ya"s. I must make nice with the masses. I also have to rub in the fact that I have been upgraded to a tower suite whilst all the peasant peoples have been relegated to regular rooms. I get fantastic reactions and grab two drinks from the complimentary bar (one is for BFF) and head up to said suite.
Well, I take the elevator to the 16th floor (there are only 17, btw). After making it to the top, there's this door and no hallway. I'm thinking "uh did I take the wrong elevator?" Well, I push through the door and am now outside on a breezeway. It's an entry like a motel. Suddenly, the visions of my 3-bedroom palace shrink to a room with two queen beds and a hide-a-way. How am I going to live this down?
I walk to the end of the corridor to my room. Awesome! At least it's a corner unit. Noise can only come from one side and, in turn, I can only bother one neighbor. Okay. I open my door and Holy. Crap. It really IS a palace! Actually, it's a condo unit with a wrap-around balcony, full kitchen, washer/dryer unit, master suite to DIE for with a master bathroom to DIE for even more! The master suite has a private balcony which became my second home. I totally had the party pad for the week. It was awesome.
There wasn't a night that I didn't see 3am. As a matter of fact, Friday, I actually was greeted by the Sunrise. Yikes. It was a moment to say the least.
Food was provided either by the conference or by the hotel. There was a fantab breakfast buffet which served omlettes and the best sausage gravy and biscuits. I had them 3 mornings in a row. I ate healthy lunches and barely touched a dinner and because of that, I maintained and even lost lbs! Awesome! I had the most awesome marinated portobello sandwich for lunch one day. Scrum-Chus.
Friday Moms had driven down for a visit to the beach and Sunday BFF headed back home. My Gramps was turning 81 on Tuesday (as in just this week...BFF's bday was Wednesday) so I planned on not coming home until then. Since I'd be in town on a weekday and would not be working, I made an appt with my Dr whom I love. I haven't found a replacement for her and don't know that I will. I may just continue to plan mini-breaks around my visits with her.
I hadn't seen her since January of last year and hadn't had "the visit" since the summer before that, so I took care of The Works. I won't horrify you with all the details, but I did talk to her about my weight. Turns out my highest weight was 287 lbs. This past trip I was 273 lbs. Now, before you get too excited, her scale has always ran 5 lbs lighter. That means the 287 lbs was actually 292 lbs and the 273 lbs is actually 278 lbs. That also means that I'm 13 lbs lighter than January 2009. For the first time in as long as I can remember, my wieght has decreased from year to year.
I feel pretty damn awesome about that.

Foot Loose & Fancy Free
05/28/10
278.4 lbs
Finally! I pushed myself back down. I've gotten rid of last weekend's mishaps and settled back to 18 lbs lost. Whew. Just in time for a mini-break (lymie speak for long weekend). I've decided to bring some good, portable friuts and veg to the Lakehouse. I mean, who doesn't love a banana?
I just bought two "tankini" tops and a pair of girl swim-shorts from Land's End. Here goes round 3 of the bathing suit fight. They're having a sale, $10 off the price for mix and match separates. The link'll take you to the sale items. In case you're keeping score at home, so far the count is 2-0 favoring the bathing suits.
After this weekend, I'm back at work for a day and then heading down to Beach Town for a "work conference". This is the one little conference a year where it's all fun. The people are great the meetings are quick and it's play play play until the wee hours of the morning. I'm staying in a beachfront, upscale hotel and I don't have to pay for it. As if it couldn't get better, I'm staying some extra days to see friends and family. I'm looking forward to it, but I really really really have to pay attention to food choices and make sure they're healthy ones. Also, since I'll have BFF in tow, I hope to have a workout partner for the hotel gym. They have one. I checked. That leaves me with my favorite gourmet pizza places and martini bars and Pińa Coladas on the beach.

The Hate Side of My Love/Hate Relationship With The World Of Weight
05/21/10
278.2 lbs
*Warning: Cranky JAFG Ahead*
I'm really not sure what to think. Since this little bloggin space's inception, I've not been this low on the scale.
I'm freakin happy! BUT...I have this overwhelming need to walk around and whisper I've lost 18 lbs because if I say it too loud, it might jinx it or something. Like when people whisper *cancer* or *prison*.
So yeah, I've lost 18 lbs. It's not a fluke like a 3 lbs fluctuation could be. It's 18 solid lbs. If someone asks me how I'm doing it I get to tell them "I'm doing it the old fashioned way: Healthy Eating and Exercise". No one wants to hear that, but it's the truth. Now, IF there were some magic way to do this while being able to eat whatever whenever I wanted, and I didn't have to exercise, then, well, I bet I'd be doing that instead.
My life's been very boring as of late. I have no funny stories to share or even any to pull from in the right recent past. I'm watching what I do for food religiously and tracking it all on myfitnesspal. I'm weighing myself every morning and, this week, have just been sitting on my couch watching tv or checking FB at night.
I love routine and I hate it too! Right now, I'm totally in an I-hate-it phase. I'm in a rut/funk/ditch/somethin and I need a change. I've really had to be a grown-up at work which, translated, means I'm not doing anything fun. I need to blow off some steam. I had plans to visit BFF and Her Hubbie this weekend, but had to cancel that. Grr. I've been disconnected from SAG and BB because everyone is just busy with l-i-f-e right now.
On a good note, I am going to Beach Town the first week of June. I'll be there for work, but I'm bringing BFF (it'll just be her and me) and we're staying in a fantab hotel ON the beach. Even when I lived there, I never stayed ON the beach. Well, there was that one Halloween weekend and then that random night one summer, but you know what I mean. I'm really looking forward to that!
I've strained my knee from pushing too hard through HHH class and bouncing around and all that. You know how walking down the stairs is usually the easiest thing in the world? Yeah. Not for me. Not right now. I hate this.
Turns out all those crunching sounds that I've heard in my knee for years has been what they call runner's knee. Commonplace among runners and overweight people. Well, I'm not in the runner category in case you didn't know. Actually, while I've had this mild, unchecked version of this pain in my knee for at least two years back that I can remember, since I started exercising in like 0-to-60 mode I've had a serious flare-up.
It's treatable with stretches and "quad stengthening" and a brace and ice and Motrin which is fantastic (seriously-it's a mostly free treatment plan). I also will actually have to bounce LESS in HHH class and focus on not too much resistnence on my favorite elliptical. I can't avoid The Stairs at least twice a day; however, I've been using the railing to ease things up a bit. While I've really noticed that my knee pain has eased up as the week of inactivity I feel like the rest of me is rusting inside. I also miss the extra calories that exersice affords me. Trying to keep my caloric intake under 1300 is a real pain in the ass.
I'm exercising tonight, damnit

Giddy Up
04/28/2010
284.2 lbs
I feel a difference in my clothes. I got all excited because I found these workout shorts I bought at the end of last year to sleep in. I brought them with me to BFF's house over New Year's and totally left them in the suitcase. I used that suitcase for the SAG Birthday Bash trip and found the shorts! They totally fit differently too! They don't "hug" my jiggle in the middle if you know what I mean. I totally heart them. I wore them Monday to workout at HHH class. It was great. I'm totally morphing into one of those gym people. Isn't it great?
I got home last night and thought, "I need some sort of activity". So, I changed and immediately went to Concierge Gym. When I got there, it was inhabited by three guys and two girls. Eh. I can do this. I really prefer to be the only one there and then let people come in. I always feel like all eyes are on me when I walk into a room involving fitness. I mean, come on. You know you look at who walks through the door and you know, no matter how small or fleeting it might be, there's always a quick assessment of the person. Well, anyway. I just hate walking in to a room with workout people. So, I did it anyway.
I walk with great determination up to my fave elliptical machine and get ready/prepped to start on it. I'm plugging in my earbuds to my Droid and set the Pandora station to my fave workout one "Rage Against The Machine" You gotta get that station. All you have to do is select Rage Against the Machine. It plays some great stuff if it's what you're into...If you don't have Pandora, you should totally get it. There's have an app for that on the Droid and for the iPhone. Or iPod Touch.
Ok, I have the music playing, I am getting on the machine and setting my pace, level, stride, and other settings (I run on Manual). I usually hit about 68-73 strides per minute. Sometimes it goes faster when Nine Inch Nails plays...but there's no telling when that'll come into rotation. Now, you may not think that's very much, but for this JAFG it's a freakin sprint. I usually do this for 20 minutes. The last 2 minutes usually kill me. Or make me think it's killing me anyway. Once I'm done with that, I hit the circuit machines (or resistance or weights or whatever those toture devices are called) for 30 minutes. That's my full workout when I'm not hitting HHH class. Back to the music. I am getting on the machine and I begin to increase my strides. I am wearing my newly found shorts again (becuase I can). The more I increase speed, the more these damn shorts are riding up between my always touching thighs. I'd like to make this more glamorized, but there's nothing attractive about it.
Concierge Gym is not the biggest area and the machines sit right up against the wall. The mirrored wall. So while I'm trying to pretend that I don't have some funky new triangle cut shorts on, I can see in the mirror exactly what I look like from the front. And that's with the front of the elliptical in between me and the mirror. Horror upon horrors. Imagine what I must look like from the back!!!
So, I am casually reaching down and pulling my shorts out of the crevice of my thighs. It's not the easiest thing to do while on this machine. I am trying to adjust my stride, my speed, all sorts of things so these damn things don't ride up on me. I'm no longer being subtle now. I can't go the pace I want to go because I keep having to stop and adjust the shorts. I know I'm gonna be some water cooler joke somewhere because I almost fell one time trying to rescue them from the thighs. Finally, I got the pace down to 48-55 strides per minute and the feet positioned in the right place and was holding my head in the right position. The riding stopped. Yahoo!
So I'm a little disappointed with this slower pace. It's not what I'm used to doing. I figured that I would increase my level from the 5 I normally go to 14 which is as high as it would go. I think, in the world of ellipticals, this would be knee-breaking, but my machine is super duper easy and even the level 14 doesn't kill me like the level 3 does on some other ones. I love that machine, though. I can do a quicker pace and really feel like I'm accomplishing something since my muscles don't feel like they are going to burn through my skin like acid the instant I get started. This machine actually lets me move a little bit before that kicks in.
I decided to double my time from 20 to 40 minutes. I also decided to skip the weight machines since I was wearing the shorts.
One wardrobe malfunction was enough.

Tales of the Come-Back Kid. Again.
04/27/10
285.6 lbs
Overall, this is pretty good. However, when I tell you that Scale said on Saturday that I had made it to 283.8 (I checked it twice) and then yesterday said I was at 287.2 you see there's not much room for excitment or sadness. Still, I'll take this as a victory.
Look, I figured up the caloric intake of the adult beverages consumed for this birthday bash and it totals 1688 calories. I am so cursing right now. As my ramblings have indicated in my previous posts, I am not such a healthfully minded chica on the morning after a night of partaking. That leads to Bacon. And lots of other things off of the breakfast buffet at the hotel like grits, potatoes, cheese, bacon, waffle, bacon, cheese danish, bacon. And a poached egg. And french fries and a frosty (both small) from Wendy's on the way home. Nice. I did have a healthy dinner. It's my lowfat version of a tuna melt with an egg. It's actually very good and some other time, I will share it with you.
I signed up for myfitnesspal.com, which I heart a lot and would love to add you as a buddy if anyone's interested but I don't know how that works, and I am SO not registering any of my weekend debauchery.
I was smart and took yesterday off. I knew that I wouldn't be fully recovered. Getting old does this to a girl. There was a time that 3 hours sleep between "gigs" seemed totally doable. Now I need two days to recover from blow-out bashes like this. At least I know my limits. Anyway. I took yesterday off. I had some bacon left over from when BFF and Her Hubbie visited that I had shoved into the freezer. Well, I sliced some of that off, scrambled me two eggs and had a slice of kraft 2% american cheese on it. Then I had two pieces of peanut butter toast for snacks. I had my tuna melt for lunch and a porkchop and a half of sweet potato for dinner. I slept most of the day but what I did do (which I didn't want to do) was exercise.
YEA ME! I went to HHH class. Can I just say that I thought I was going to die? I know I've said that before, but, like, this time, I was really wondering what would happen if I collapsed of a heart attack in the middle of the session. That would be so embarrassing.
While I was contemplating coronary issues, I also noticed that I was bouncing a lot more than I first did. Perhaps I was so worn out because I was pushing a little harder this time. Perhaps. I don't know for sure, though. I was also thinking I really can't miss my Saturday workout. I will HAVE to make time for a workout when on trips, otherwise, it'll feel like starting over again when I get back to class. I hate feeling like I'm starting over again.
I uploaded my pics from the trip to FB (my real world FB account, not the JAFG account) and had a pleasant surprise....aside from having kept all my clothes intact over the trip, I was also looking thinner!

Something Wicked This Way Comes......
10/08/09
284.8 lbs
WTH?
I am SO excited about Halloween. About the whole upcoming holiday season really. It starts with my Birthday and rolls through New Year's. I really love Halloween though. I read once that as the holiday grew in popularity in the 60's our parents passed that holiday fun-lovin gene down through the 70's and 80's and 90's (even with the razorblade in the apple stuff-which, btw, has never really happened) and basically we GenXers and generations that followed have just brought it with us up into adulthood. I mean, who doesn't love dressing up like an idiot and making merriment all night?
That's me in that picture in case you're wondering. I figured since I'm sporting my super fantastic 60's-pink-bobbed-hair wig, I could consider my JAFG super secret identity still intact. I'm also wearing a tiara, but that's not really part of the costume since I'll wear it pretty much whenever I want.
I'm not sure what costume I'll come up with this year. I love going to costume shops and finding great stuff. I'm not talking Party City either. I'm talking Theater shops with quality garb. Stuff that you know won't fall apart by night's end. I wouldn't mind finding another fantastic wig to add to the collection. Last year was fun in that Pink Wig. People loved it. Hell, I loved it! I even bought one of those styrofoam heads for it to sit on.
One year BFF and I went to Salem, Mass for Halloween. Talk about AWESOME. It's like Mardi Gras in NOLA without all the vomit and other human excriment everywhere. Which is kinda nice when you think about it. Actually, if you were caught with a beverage on the street in Salem, you'd be ticketed by the police. BFF and I did buy some Absynthe online from Europe. It didn't do a damn thing. Stupid Green Fairy Tale! Ooohhh. Green Fairy. That's an idea, isn't it? I wonder how I can pull that off....
I'm going back to Southern City for the holiday to play with my hometown friends. Who knows what kind of frightful fun we'll find. I can't wait to go out and laugh make fun of all the craziness that will ensue. Pictures from Halloween are the best. Even though all the girls are dressed so trampy. Oh wait, how's that different from any other Saturday night?

I Think I Can Do This
09/17/09
284.2 lbs
That's a 5 lb gain in as many days. Damnit.
I have a weak constitution when it comes to fun times with friends. Fat girls just wanna have fun! At least this one does. I so love my social time. I love spending time out with old friends most of all. Like this weekend. My BFF has been in my life since I was 15 yrs old. I'll be 34 in a few short weeks. That's 19 years of solid friendship, People. She's been there through thick and thin. And I totally meant that as a pun, too.
I came out of the fat closet to her this weekend and told her about my bloggin. She already knew I was fat. It was scary and exciting all at the same time. We celebrated by weighing ourselves all weekend. Well, BFF and Her-Hubbie did, not me. I figured I'd wait for the shocking results on Monday. Yeah, shocker. Anyway, if BFF's reading this, SHOUT OUT! I HEART YOU!
I've been off the bloggin circuit since Friday. I had a lot of catching up to do. I laughed, I cried, you know, the usual. I usually take weekends off, but I'm wondering if I otta start bloggin on the weekends to help stay on track. Especially when I DO have company or social time. I will still have to avoid Twitter because no one should drink and text, but I think I'll make more effort to jump into my virtual life on the weekends too.
It's been a month and the only thing consistent here is a steady stream of consiousness. That's not too hard because I'm usually focused on me, but I really really want to lose weight. Like really. I want to be bloggin to other fat girls and coaching them through it and telling them they can do it because I did. I want to glimpse the future of a thin me. [pausing for that glimpse] Nothing comes to mind. So, I'm melanchol-i-ly (I just made that word up, feel free to use it) reading over the blogs and secretly hating everyone who's made so much progress in the same amount of time that I've made none, and I come across a post from my favorite Blog-Comic Jack Sh*t Gettin' Fit.
He's my most favoritest smartass; after me, of course. If you haven't meandered over to his blog and become a sh*thead convert, then you're really missing out. He's got like 100,000,000 followers or something like that, so you probably have, but I'm just sayin. If you're one of the two people left on Earth that hasn't read him before, you should get on it.
Rarely do I read something from The Sh*tter where there's anything serious or straight-faced, but yesterday's was different. I Think You Can Do This It's awesome. Motivational, inspirational, and most of all, not too sappy. Here's my homage to that post. (That means I've changed a few things around so it looks different and not like I'm a copycat).
Thank you, Jack. You're The Sh*t.

Motivational, inspirational, and most of all, not too sappy. Here's my homage to that post. (That means I've changed a few things around so it looks different and not like I'm a copycat).
Today I'm racked with doubt about whether or not I'm ever going to drop these pounds. At times I think this is a goal that I'm never going to be able to accomplish.
For what it’s worth, I think I'm gonna do it.
I think I've got this.
What gives me such sure-fire confidence that this is my time?
I think I want it. Of course I want it. Why else would I be here, scouring the internet for information on losing weight and getting healthy? I’m just getting started, laying the groundwork, whatever. But I’m here. I struggled with weight my whole life and had ups and downs. But, I’m still at it. I haven’t given up, and that’s one of the most basic, fundamental reasons why I am going to make it.
I think I know what I need to do. I do–that point’s not even up for debate. All the information I need is either in my brain or at my fingertips. I may not be heeding it every day, may not be following my own game plan, but that’s not because I don’t know any better. I know better, and one day (and one day soon) I’m going to wake up to the fact that I know better. Maybe I already have.
I think I deserve it. Don’t get the feeling that I think I’m extra special (although, I do feel like I’m extra special). I think everyone deserves it. Everyone deserves to be healthy, to be fit and to feel good about themselves. It’s a basic human right, and it’s time I reclaimed what is rightfully mine.
I think nothing’s stopping me… but me. I can blame the job, the kitty, the friends, the financial situation… I can blame anything I want, but I have to understand that it’s me that dug this hole that I’m standing at the bottom of it and it’s me that’s going to eventually have to put that shovel down and decide that it’s time to start climbing. I hate climbing. But I’ve gotta do it.
I think it’s time. I mean that, I think it’s time right now. I mean right this very second. Excuses are for the weak, and I am anything but weak. I’m strong-willed, and I know that if I apply myself… I mean really give it my all… this is a journey that I will be successful with.
One month ago I stood on my balcony and got fed up with being just another fat girl. It’s a miserable way to feel. I looked in a mirror and could no longer face the image staring back at me. I wasn’t so mad at what I’d done to myself; I was mad at what I was continuing to do to myself. Since I can appreciate the difference… well, that’s one more reason why I’m going to make this change in myself.
Because that’s the thing: we’re not chained to the person we are. There’s nothing holding us back if we wake up and decide to make that transformation.
One month ago, I decided to change the person I am, and every day that passes makes me prouder and happier at where I am now and what I will accomplish.
I’m not done yet, and neither are you.
Thank you, Jack. You're The Sh*t.

28 Days Later
09/11/09
279.4 lbs
That's from yesterday. I didn't have a chance to weigh today.
This post is a little gray like the weather outside. I'm just sayin.
So when I got to my dashboard today I saw that I have written 27 posts. That makes this my 28th. That's 28 days of posting. I've heard it takes 28 days to break a habit. I hear that a lot, because I smoke. They've made a movie out of it where Sandra Bullock has to go to rehab because she drove her drunk car into someone's living room or something. Or her character did I should say. The movie was 'eh'. Anyway, 28 seems pretty relavant in some way. I haven't really broken any habits, but I think I've started a new one.
I write all the time about my love/hate relationship with the world of weight. I'm just another fat girl, ya know? Well, I realize that I've become so hyper-aware of everything relating to fat that I think I'm addicted. I'm addicted to reading blogs. I'm addicted to reading my own blog. I'm addicted to the idea of other people reading my blog. I'm addicted to Twitter. I'm so addicted to these things, in fact, that I'm hardly on Facebook with my real persona since I started this blog. And I could never get enough of Facebook.
So I have this secret. Part of me is dying to share with friends that I have this awesome witty outlet (yeah, I know my blog rocks) where I really get to show just how fabulous I am and still struggle with weight, but then I realize that I could never be as candid as I am if people know about it. It's a Catch-22. It sucks.
Not to say this isn't fun! I love this little corner of my life. It makes me happy to come here and post. I feel good and have a huge sense of accomplishment when I post daily and feel like I was cheated out of something when I miss a day. Like yesterday. I know you missed me and I want you to know that I missed me, too. Bygones and all. Is that what it feels like to folk who actually work out? Hmm. At some point I really do need to try that.
Well, enough introspection. BFF and Hubbie are coming for a visit this weekend. I'm excited. I'm going to have pizza tonight and drink a few beers or something. Don't know what we'll do the rest of the weekend, but it's sure to be a good time. I'll probably be back up over 280 on Monday, but that's ok. I'm gonna try to keep it down, though. That is, if I think about it.
